Role Summary
Visa is hiring a Data Engineer (1 - 2 years of experience in Java / Python / Go, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop) for its technology center in Bengaluru, Karnataka (Hybrid - 3 days in office). In this early-career data engineering role, you will design, implement, and maintain high-throughput streaming and batch data processing pipelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate technical requirements into robust code, build automated data tools, handle data transformations, and troubleshoot pipeline alerts to support Visa's enterprise payment data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development & Coding: Implement clean, efficient code using Java, Python, or Go to build streaming and batch pipelines using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Hadoop.
- Data Transformation & Automation: Develop automated processes to extract, compile, and transform large-scale raw data across distributed systems.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct unit testing, participate in code reviews, and execute component designs in compliance with security and coding standards.
- Pipeline Operations & Monitoring: Monitor data pipeline alerts, investigate failures, apply basic troubleshooting solutions, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
- Stakeholder & Requirement Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams to understand data retention, privacy, and security specifications.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (OR 3+ years of relevant experience).
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering.
- Core Technical Stack: Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go, with hands-on experience using distributed big data frameworks like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Hadoop.
- Engineering Practices: Demonstrated experience writing unit tests, maintaining code quality through peer reviews, and using Git-based workflows.
- Digital Fluency: Comfortable utilizing AI-assisted developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) within daily engineering workflows.
