Role Summary
Virtusa is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer for a Senior Software Engineer role to lead performance testing across enterprise Java-based platforms and APIs. The role focuses on identifying performance bottlenecks, developing testing strategies, and ensuring reliable application performance at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Strategy: Develop and maintain performance testing strategies, plans, and frameworks aligned with business and engineering goals.
- Test Execution: Design and execute performance, load, stress, and soak tests for enterprise applications.
- Application Testing: Evaluate Java applications, Spring Boot microservices, and REST APIs for performance and scalability.
- Bottleneck Analysis: Investigate memory leaks, latency issues, throughput constraints, and other performance bottlenecks.
- Profiling and Diagnostics: Use profiling, thread analysis, and heap analysis to identify root causes of performance issues.
- Performance Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to resolve performance issues.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance validation.
- Baseline Management: Define and maintain performance baselines, service-level objectives (SLOs), and acceptance thresholds.
- Best Practices: Promote performance engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in performance engineering or performance testing.
- Expertise in performance testing Java applications, including Java 11 or later.
- Experience with Spring Boot microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in the Gatling performance testing framework.
- Familiarity with Apache JMeter, k6, or Locust.
- Strong knowledge of profiling, thread analysis, and heap analysis.
- Experience developing performance testing strategies for complex, distributed, multi-tier applications.
- Ability to analyze test results and recommend performance improvements.
