Role Summary
Virtusa is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Microsoft Messaging to join our infrastructure and cloud operations practice in Hyderabad. In this role, you will deliver engineering, operational, and project implementation support for a global enterprise Microsoft Messaging ecosystem, encompassing Exchange Online, hybrid co-existence, email perimeter security, and cloud migrations. You will drive incident resolution and root cause analysis, maintain email compliance configurations, manage tenant consolidation initiatives, and build robust PowerShell automations to optimize day-to-day administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Exchange & Mail Routing Operations: Administer and optimize Exchange Online and Exchange Hybrid architectures (2016/2019/SE), managing SMTP connectors, transport rules, and end-to-end message tracking.
- Email Security & Perimeter Defense: Manage and configure email hygiene technologies including Proofpoint, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, and domain verification protocols (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC).
- Migration & Modernization: Execute complex mailbox migrations, cross-tenant consolidations, and legacy infrastructure modernization to Microsoft 365.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain production-grade PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation runbooks integrated with the Microsoft Graph API for automated provisioning and operational workflows.
- Compliance & Identity Integration: Configure Microsoft Purview retention policies, journaling, and eDiscovery, ensuring smooth integration across Entra ID, Conditional Access, and M365 collaboration tools.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of solid hands-on experience engineering and supporting large-scale enterprise messaging platforms.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Exchange Online, Exchange Server (On-Prem/Hybrid), SMTP mail flow diagnostics, Proofpoint, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, PowerShell scripting, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, Enterprise Vault, Defender for Office 365, and Microsoft Graph API integrations.
- Professional Competencies: Disciplined troubleshooting of complex production outages, clear runbook documentation, and responsive stakeholder communication.
