Lead Software Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role Summary

Virtusa is hiring a Lead Software Engineer in Test (SDET) for its engineering center in Hyderabad, Telangana. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test suites for web applications and REST APIs using modern frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium. You will collaborate closely with software development teams, integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, optimize test reliability, and embed AI-assisted testing workflows into the quality engineering process.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Automation Frameworks: Design, develop, and execute automated test suites for web applications and backend APIs using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Integrate automated regression and API test suites directly into continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) deployment pipelines.
• Test Reliability & Debugging: Diagnose, debug, and eliminate flaky test behavior to boost release delivery confidence across enterprise platforms.
• AI-Assisted Testing Workflows: Leverage AI development tools and automated testing methodologies to accelerate test generation, execution, and defect analysis.

Key Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field.
• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on software automation engineering experience with web applications and RESTful APIs.
• Mandatory Technical Stack: Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium; programming expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python; REST APIs; and CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred Technical Exposure: AI development tools, cloud computing platforms (AWS/Azure), Docker, and enterprise DevSecOps workflows.
• Work Setup: Full-time role based in Hyderabad, Telangana.
