Role Summary
Virtusa is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer (Backend Developer - AIOps & Observability) to join our engineering division in Bengaluru. In this role, you will lead the backend design, development, and scaling of our enterprise AIOps platform. You will build high-throughput microservices using Python, manage container orchestration across Kubernetes environments, diagnose complex distributed system bottlenecks, and implement robust telemetry and observability solutions to ensure peak platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- AIOps Platform Engineering: Architect, implement, and maintain resilient backend services and data processing pipelines powering AIOps and observability platforms.
- Distributed Systems Development: Design and optimize modular microservices using Python, ensuring low-latency communication and fault tolerance across distributed architectures.
- Container & Cloud Orchestration: Deploy, scale, and maintain containerized workloads on Kubernetes clusters across enterprise cloud environments.
- Production Debugging & Support: Triage, isolate, and remediate high-severity issues across multi-tier production services, conducting thorough root-cause investigations.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Champion clean coding practices, participate in architectural design reviews, and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience: 5 to 9 years of hands-on backend software engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Python, microservices design patterns, Kubernetes (K8s), containerization (Docker), RESTful APIs, and production system debugging.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on experience with AIOps frameworks, observability toolchains (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), and public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Professional Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, high ownership in fast-paced delivery environments, and clear technical communication.
