Role Summary
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring an Associate Systems Developer for Automation Support. The role focuses on L1/L1.5 automation operations, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and minor enhancements to business automation solutions built primarily using Microsoft Power Platform and RPA technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Monitoring: Monitor scheduled automation jobs and identify failed, terminated, or incomplete executions.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate automation failures using execution logs, error messages, alerts, and approved support procedures.
- Job Recovery: Restart, reprocess, or recover automation jobs using documented runbooks and validate successful completion.
- Incident Management: Create, update, track, and escalate incidents and service requests with supporting evidence.
- Testing: Execute regression testing for application patches, upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes.
- Deployment Support: Support business acceptance testing, user acceptance testing, production deployments, hypercare, and post-deployment validation.
- Documentation: Maintain process design documents, solution design documents, runbooks, known-error records, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Automation Development: Create or modify basic Power Automate workflows and Power Apps components, including integrations with SharePoint, Dataverse, and SQL.
- RPA Support: Use existing APIs and connectors and support Power Automate Desktop or Blue Prism activities where applicable.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring failures and work with L2 developers to improve automation stability.
- Production Support: Participate in scheduled support rotations and coordinate with business, application, and technical teams during incidents.
Key Qualifications
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in RPA, automation development, application support, or software development.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Automate.
- Exposure to Power Apps, SharePoint, Dataverse, and SQL.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, programming or scripting, and relational databases.
- Ability to interpret logs and troubleshoot routine automation failures using structured procedures.
- Exposure to ServiceNow or another incident/change management platform is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and relevant experience.

Reliably operate and support automation solutions at L1/L1.5, resolve routine issues without unnecessary developer intervention, and develop the technical capability to progress into L2 engineering.
