Role Overview
The Walt Disney Company features an opening for a Full Stack Software Engineer II within the Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology organization in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this cross-stack engineering role within the Ad Platforms division, you will design, build, and maintain high-performance web applications and services that power Disney’s global advertising technology ecosystem across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC. You will develop modern user interfaces using React, build scalable backend microservices using Node.js, TypeScript, and Go, write automation tooling in Python, and collaborate with senior engineers on cloud deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
Core Responsibilities
- Frontend Architecture & UI Development: Build and optimize responsive, accessible, and high-performance web interfaces utilizing React and reusable component frameworks.
- Backend Microservices Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and distributed backend services leveraging Node.js, TypeScript, and Go.
- Automation & Tooling: Develop Python scripts and services for data processing, internal developer tooling, and workflow automation.
- Testing & Code Quality: Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test suites; participate actively in code reviews to ensure system reliability and clean code standards.
- Cloud & DevOps Operations: Support automated CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications using Docker, and assist with infrastructure deployment across AWS environments and Kubernetes/EKS under senior guidance.
- Technical Documentation & Collaboration: Author clear API specifications, architecture documentation, and onboarding runbooks, collaborating closely with product managers and UI/UX designers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Professional Experience: 2+ years of hands-on professional software engineering experience developing full-stack web applications and services.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript, with demonstrated production experience building services in Node.js and user interfaces in React.
- Backend & Scripting: Working exposure to Go (Golang) for building backend services, along with practical experience scripting in Python.
- Systems & Versioning: Solid understanding of RESTful API architecture, version control using Git, and automated CI/CD workflows.
- Cloud & Containers: Hands-on familiarity with Docker containerization and foundational AWS cloud concepts.
- Preferred Capabilities: Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform (IaC), GraphQL, gRPC, observability platforms (Datadog/Prometheus), or production incident response workflows.
