Role Summary
Synchrony is hiring a Senior Database Automation Engineer / Senior DBA (Level L11) for its Information Technology division in India. In this high-impact cloud automation role, you will architect, implement, and maintain database infrastructure automation tools across 24x7 mission-critical environments. Operating across flexible regional hubs (Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi NCR), you will design high-availability databases, drive on-premises to AWS cloud migrations, and streamline operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Python automation scripts.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Automation & IaC: Architect, implement, and maintain automation tooling using Terraform, Python, and Shell scripting to reduce complexity in database provisioning and operational maintenance.
- Database Architecture & High Availability: Design, configure, and scale mission-critical, highly available, and high-throughput databases across cloud environments.
- Cloud Migration & Operations: Migrate enterprise databases from on-premises environments to public cloud platforms (AWS), manage 24x7 production performance tuning, and conduct root-cause analysis for escalated incidents.
- Standards & Capacity Planning: Assess usage and capacity trends to scale database architectures, establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deployment, break-fix, and system management.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 8+ years of experience in systems automation on database platforms, including 5+ years as a Senior DBA or Database Automation Engineer and 3+ years with Linux/Unix/Windows administration.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Linux/Unix/Windows, Terraform, Python, Shell scripting, and deep expertise in at least one enterprise database engine.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: AWS Cloud Services (RDS, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Kinesis), PostgreSQL, Apache Cassandra, MySQL, Oracle, and AWS/Terraform certifications.
- Work Setup: Enhanced flexibility with choice to work from home or regional engagement hubs (Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi NCR), aligned with US Eastern meeting hours (6:00 AM – 11:30 AM ET).
