Role Summary
Synchrony is hiring a Lead Software Engineer / Engineering Lead (Level 10) for its Information Technology division in India. In this technical leadership position, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies, direct release and change management workflows, and drive AI-assisted software engineering practices using tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to accelerate code development, testing, refactoring, and technical documentation. This role offers flexible working options aligned with US Eastern meeting hours (6:00 AM – 11:30 AM ET / 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST).
Key Responsibilities
- Agile & Technical Leadership: Lead technical ceremonies including backlog grooming, architecture design reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives while ensuring software development lifecycle (SDLC) compliance.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Embed AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, enterprise LLMs) into daily software workflows to accelerate refactoring, code reviews, automated testing, and documentation generation.
- Release & Incident Management: Oversee application releases, change management procedures, and support operational production triage for critical deployment events.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate technical trade-offs, system architectures, and execution strategies to both technical engineering teams and non-technical business leaders.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, technical lead roles, and Agile release management.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT), SDLC Agile practices, Release Management, and Incident/Change Management.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: Enterprise LLM integrations, secure coding standards, and AI-driven automated testing frameworks.
- Work Setup: Enhanced flexibility with choice to work from home or regional engagement hubs (Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi NCR), aligned with US Eastern meeting hours.
