Role Summary
Société Générale is seeking a proactive Specialist Software Engineer - Support to join our front-office technology division in Bengaluru. In this role, you will deliver critical production support, incident remediation, and continuous operational enhancements for proprietary systems utilized by global Exotic and Volatility trading desks. You will collaborate directly with traders, front-office business users, and core IT development squads to diagnose complex production incidents, capture user stories, implement custom telemetry, and develop sustainable code fixes to maintain platform stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Trading Desk Application Support: Provide Level 2/Level 3 operational support for proprietary front-office trading software, handling live user inquiries, trade routing anomalies, and production incidents under market hours pressure.
- Incident Investigation & Remediation: Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on trading pipeline breakdowns, database locks, and workflow stalls using UNIX utilities and complex SQL diagnostics.
- Application Health & Monitoring: Proactively track workflow health, telemetry, and execution latencies by engineering custom dashboards and alerts using Grafana, Kibana, and job scheduling tools like Autosys.
- Requirements Gathering & Delivery: Interface directly with traders and desk analysts to analyze operational bottlenecks and translate business needs into technical user stories and code-level fixes.
- Software Quality & Release Management: Develop reusable, maintainable software patches, participate in automated deployments via XL Deploy, and ensure adherence to financial market regulatory compliance rules.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant technical support or software engineering experience in enterprise production environments.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in UNIX/Linux command-line environments, shell scripting, relational SQL database querying, and structured incident management workflows.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong working understanding of financial markets, derivatives, market sensitivities (Greeks), or trade lifecycle operations.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on experience with Grafana, Kibana, Autosys, XL Deploy, Java, C#, or VBA automation scripts.
- Professional Competencies: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in English, high composure under market volatility, and strong cross-functional alignment with trading desk stakeholders.
