Role Summary
Société Générale is seeking a skilled Specialist Software Engineer - Java to join our Global Solution Centre in Bengaluru in a hybrid work arrangement. In this role, you will apply rigorous software craftsmanship principles to independently design, code, and test high-throughput Java and Spring Boot backend components for enterprise financial systems. Working within an Agile, Test-Driven Development (TDD) culture, you will build and expose secure RESTful APIs, streamline automated release pipelines using GitHub Actions, and provide Level 2/Level 3 production support to maintain maximum platform stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Architecture & Clean Coding: Design and deliver modular, scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot adhering to clean code and software craftsmanship guidelines.
- Test-Driven Development (TDD): Author comprehensive automated test suites, unit tests, and integration scenarios using a test-first approach to ensure zero-defect deliverables.
- API Engineering & Data Access: Define and implement robust RESTful APIs, business data access rules, data dictionaries, and standardized data models across distributed applications.
- CI/CD & DevOps Automation: Configure, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and delivery workflows leveraging tools such as GitHub Actions.
- Production Support & Continuous Improvement: Perform L2/L3 production diagnostics, remediate recurring incidents, validate release builds, and build automation to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of hands-on software development experience specializing in Java backend architectures.
- Core Stack: Advanced expertise in Java, Spring Boot, automated unit testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), GitHub Actions (or equivalent CI/CD platforms), and relational SQL databases.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on exposure to Apache Spark, Python, and big data pipeline concepts.
- Professional Competencies: Disciplined debugging acumen, passion for clean code and software craftsmanship, and active participation in Agile ceremonies.
