Role Summary
Société Générale – SG Global Solution Centre is looking for a Specialist Software Engineer – DevOps in Bangalore to support application platforms, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, deployments, and production operations. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Linux, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, scripting, and DevOps tools in a hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Automation: Automate IT infrastructure using Docker containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible.
- CI/CD Automation: Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, npm, and other CI/CD frameworks.
- Containerization: Create custom Dockerfiles and Docker Compose configurations and support application containerization and deployment.
- Application Deployment: Deploy and support Java, JavaScript, Python, Node.js, and other applications across enterprise environments.
- Monitoring & Observability: Monitor applications and websites using appropriate monitoring and logging tools and recommend improvements to application stability and performance.
- Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents, implement preventive and remedial actions, and support production environments.
- Migration & Upgrades: Assist application teams with changes, migrations, platform upgrades, image creation, and application topology through automated pipelines.
- Platform Improvement: Identify opportunities for platform improvements and collaborate with engineering and product management stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 4–7 years of relevant DevOps, infrastructure, application operations, or production support experience.
- Linux: Strong hands-on experience with Linux environments and troubleshooting.
- Configuration & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Containers: Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- CI/CD: Knowledge of CI/CD tools and pipelines including Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, Tekton, Nexus, and related technologies.
- Build & Version Management: Experience with Git, GitHub, Maven, npm, and other build/deployment frameworks.
- Scripting: Experience with Shell/Unix and Python scripting. Exposure to Perl or PHP is also relevant.
- Monitoring: Experience with application monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, Nagios, or AppDynamics.
- Web & Application Servers: Experience with NGINX, Tomcat, and JBoss.
- Troubleshooting: Knowledge of database and network troubleshooting in enterprise production environments.
- Development & APIs: Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP requests, and application development technologies.
- Methodology: Experience working with Agile development methodologies; production and SRE experience is advantageous.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.
