Role Summary
Société Générale is hiring an Analyst - Permanent Control & Risk Management to join our Risk division in Chennai in a hybrid work arrangement. In this role, you will prepare, execute, and evaluate operational controls across business perimeters in close coordination with Paris-based control managers and department heads. You will perform substantive control testing, assign risk ratings, prepare executive syntheses, and build automated analytical reports using Excel and Power BI to support enterprise compliance and risk governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Control Design & Preparation: Define and set up operational risk control frameworks and testing procedures to be executed from Chennai, aligning perimeters with Paris control managers.
- Control Execution & Rating: Conduct regular control evaluations, assess execution effectiveness, challenge procedural gaps, and assign standardized control ratings.
- Synthesis & Reporting: Prepare structured synthesis notes, executive summary decks, and risk dashboards outside and within GPS internal toolsets.
- Cross-Border Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate continuously with global control managers and local leadership to validate test results and track remediation actions.
- Operational Support & Due Diligence: Act as backup for peer control workflows, maintain stringent due diligence standards, and drive automation using Power BI and Microsoft Office suites.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 4 years of hands-on experience in operational risk, internal controls, compliance testing, or internal audit within banking/financial services.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, operational due diligence methods, and structured risk reporting.
- Nice to Have: Hands-on exposure to banking risk and control platforms (such as GPS) and familiarity with European banking regulations.
- Professional Competencies: High attention to detail, proactive ownership, excellent cross-cultural communication, and strong time management skills.
