Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

Role Summary

ShimentoX is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) with 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience for its technology centers in Bengaluru, Karnataka and Hyderabad, Telangana. In this senior engineering role, you will design, build, and scale high-performance Python microservices, REST APIs, and real-time WebSocket communication systems for production-grade applications. Prior engineering experience at Uber or a similar high-scale mobility/real-time tech enterprise is strongly preferred for rapid onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend & API Architecture: Design, build, and deploy secure, highly scalable Python backend services, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Real-Time Systems Engineering: Architect and optimize WebSockets and real-time data streaming features for high-throughput, low-latency applications.
• Database & Cache Performance Tuning: Manage SQL/NoSQL databases and implement distributed caching strategies (e.g., Redis) to maximize high availability.
• Production Debugging & Observability: Troubleshoot complex production incidents, perform performance profiling, monitor system health, and ensure overall platform reliability.

Key Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience: 6+ years of software engineering experience in core backend development.
• Mandatory Technical Stack: Advanced Python, REST APIs, Microservices architecture, WebSockets/Real-Time systems, SQL/NoSQL databases, and Caching infrastructure.
• Preferred Background: Prior Uber or hyper-growth technology firm engineering experience, distributed systems, and high-availability design patterns.
