Role Overview
Qualcomm features an opportunity for an Engineer - Modem Development within the Software Engineering Group in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, modification, and validation of embedded software, cloud edge components, and specialized system utilities that power mobile and connectivity platforms. Collaborating with systems, hardware, architecture, and verification teams, you will implement modular software features, execute unit and regression testing, and support software integration across modem development life cycles.
Core Responsibilities
- Embedded Software Development: Support the design, implementation, and modification of embedded system software and edge applications.
- Feature Implementation & Coding: Write clean, efficient code for designated software features using C and C++ adhering to system-level requirements.
- Testing & Verification: Author and execute unit test cases, perform regression testing, and validate code against defined functional parameters.
- Debugging & Triaging: Diagnose defect reports, perform root-cause debugging fixes, and support the resolution of technical issues in lab environments.
- Quality & Code Governance: Participate in peer code reviews, assist in maintaining code coverage, and enforce engineering quality standards.
- Integration & Tooling: Coordinate with cross-functional project teams, manage source repositories with Git or Perforce, and prepare technical software documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Professional Experience: 1+ years of software engineering experience focusing on embedded systems or software development.
- Programming Proficiency: Hands-on proficiency with core programming languages such as C or C++ (exposure to Python or Java is beneficial).
- Testing & Debugging: Practical experience in unit testing, software debugging, defect isolation, and regression verification.
- Version Control & Data: Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git, Perforce) and familiarity with database management tools or API concepts.
