Role Summary
PACCAR India is seeking an innovative, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering and product development center in Pune, Maharashtra, India. In this role, you will specialize in the design, packaging, and mechanical development of engine installation systems and peripheral components—including engine mounts, casting brackets, air intake piping, power steering routing, chassis integration, and fuel delivery lines. Leveraging advanced CAD modeling in Creo Parametric and Windchill, you will deliver robust, ergonomic, and manufacturable designs supporting world-class commercial vehicles and powertrain architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Packaging: Conceptualize and design engine mounts, sheet-metal brackets, casting structures, air intake pipes, power steering lines, and overall engine compartment packaging.
- CAD Modeling & Drafting: Execute advanced sheet-metal, casting, and piping CAD modeling and assembly drafting using Creo Parametric, utilizing simplified representations for large assembly workflows.
- Engineering Standards & GD&T: Create detailed engineering manufacturing drawings with strict adherence to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, and accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) creation.
- Vehicle Integration Studies: Perform digital mock-up packaging, serviceability checks, tool clearance investigations, and apply ergonomic design principles.
- Manufacturing Feasibility: Collaborate with casting, fabrication, and manufacturing teams to ensure structural integrity, weight optimization, and cost-effective production.
- Global Engineering Alignment: Partner with cross-functional, local, and international engineering teams to align system interfaces and product specifications.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 1 to 4 years of hands-on automotive engineering experience with exposure to powertrain and IC engine peripheral components.
- CAD & PLM Expertise: Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric (modeling, sheet-metal, large assemblies, detailing) and Windchill PLM.
- Design Fundamentals: Proven understanding of casting design, sheet-metal forming, piping routing, tolerance stack-up analysis, and standard drafting conventions.
- Vehicle Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy-duty commercial truck chassis layouts, engine peripheries, and powertrain installation constraints.
- Preferred Capabilities: Hands-on exposure to Model-Based Definition (MBD), Creo Piping, and Creo Simulation / FEA is an added advantage.
