Role Overview
Oracle features an opportunity for a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Operator Access division in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this core systems engineering role, you will design, implement, test, deploy, and operate high-scale, fault-tolerant cloud services and distributed system components. The position centers on engineering resilient data planes, building recovery-oriented architectures (automatic failover, replication, circuit breakers, and timeouts), developing infrastructure automation via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and implementing advanced telemetry and security controls across multi-tenant cloud platforms.
Core Responsibilities
- Scalable Distributed Systems Design: Architect, implement, and optimize distributed services that support horizontal and vertical scaling, leveraging distributed state management and high-throughput data processing platforms.
- Resilience & Fault Tolerance: Build self-healing, zero-downtime components incorporating automatic failover, data replication, retry strategies, timeouts, and circuit breakers capable of withstanding in-service upgrades.
- Observability & Telemetry: Build, configure, and tune dashboards, alarms, and telemetry metrics to proactively detect operational anomalies and assess system correctness via fault-injection scenarios.
- Operational Support & Incident Triage: Participate in operational rotation schedules, draft system runbooks, lead root-cause investigations (RCAs), and develop automated tooling to remediate operational issues without customer disruption.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Maintain automation scripts and IaC frameworks for repeatable provisioning, continuous configuration updates, and safe rollbacks.
- Security & Compliance Engineering: Implement enterprise-grade security controls, including encryption in transit and at rest, granular access controls, and vulnerability remediation across multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Professional Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated software engineering experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed systems within an Agile/DevOps environment.
- Programming Proficiency: 3+ years of hands-on software development using Java or another core object-oriented programming language.
- Distributed Systems Foundations: Deep technical mastery of distributed systems architecture, microservices, core data structures, algorithms, and operating system fundamentals.
- Data & Persistence Layers: Strong working knowledge of relational database architectures, NoSQL engines, distributed storage, and data synchronization patterns.
- Systems & Languages (Advantageous): Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, scripting, and hands-on experience with Go (Golang).
