Role Overview
Oracle features an opportunity for a Core Infrastructure Engineer 2 within its Product and Research organization in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this systems and cloud infrastructure role, you will implement, optimize, and validate core components within high-scale distributed systems and network platforms. The position centers on low-level systems engineering using C and C++, Linux-based network packet processing, building fault-tolerant mechanisms (retries, circuit breakers, timeouts), executing performance and scale testing, and supporting operational resilience through telemetry, alerts, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation.
Core Responsibilities
- Distributed Systems Implementation: Assist in building, profiling, and optimizing distributed system components that support horizontal and vertical scaling for high-throughput data processing.
- Low-Level Systems & Networking: Design and write clean, robust code in C and C++ for network protocol implementation, packet processing pipelines, and virtual networking layers.
- Reliability & Fault Resilience: Configure and validate resiliency features—including automatic failover, data replication, circuit breakers, timeouts, and retries—to maintain high system availability under network variability.
- Performance & Scale Testing: Plan and execute load, scale, and performance benchmarks along with fault-injection and brown-out scenarios to verify system correctness.
- Observability & Telemetry: Construct monitoring dashboards, tune health telemetry, configure alert thresholds, and draft operational runbooks for failure recovery.
- Operations & Incident Triage: Participate in operational support rotations, diagnose component-level issues, perform root cause investigations (RCAs), and run automation scripts to prevent service interruptions.
- Security & Change Governance: Apply encryption standards, manage multi-tenant access controls, execute security remediation tasks, and adhere to structured IaC deployment workflows.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master's or PhD preferred).
- Professional Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated systems or application development experience in Linux-based environments.
- Core Languages: Strong programming proficiency in C and C++ with a focus on systems software, memory management, and scale.
- Networking Foundations: Proven development experience with network protocol implementations, packet processing stacks, and virtual networking concepts.
- Performance & Testing: Hands-on experience executing performance, stress, and load testing on complex platforms.
- Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with Python test automation, CI/CD pipelines, production simulation frameworks, or cloud infrastructure platforms (OCI).
