Role Summary
Optum (a UnitedHealth Group company) is seeking an experienced, analytical Data Analyst to join our Business & Data Analytics team in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. In this full-time role, you will analyze complex healthcare, provider, and claims datasets to extract actionable insights and identify operational efficiencies. You will design and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and automated data workflows using Databricks, Python, and Microsoft Azure, while authoring complex SQL queries and building executive-level interactive business intelligence dashboards in Power BI and Tableau.
Key Responsibilities
- ETL & Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL processes and automated data pipelines leveraging Databricks, Microsoft Azure (or AWS/GCP), and relational SQL databases.
- Healthcare Data Analysis: Analyze provider networks, insurance claims, and clinical metric datasets to identify operational trends, efficiency opportunities, and performance gaps.
- BI & Dashboard Engineering: Develop, publish, and maintain interactive business intelligence dashboards and reporting views using Power BI and Tableau to articulate complex insights to cross-functional leaders.
- Data Profiling & Quality Assurance: Perform comprehensive data profiling, statistical modeling, and root-cause data validation using Python and advanced SQL to guarantee integrity across reporting platforms.
- Automation & Workflow Streamlining: Build automated scripting solutions in Python to eliminate repetitive manual reporting processes and optimize end-to-end analytical throughput.
- Governance & Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with data engineering squads, governance leads, and healthcare business stakeholders to define analytics requirements and ensure adherence to enterprise data modeling standards.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related quantitative 4-year degree.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Provider Data Analyst, or Healthcare Analyst.
- Core Technical Skills: 4+ years of writing complex SQL queries against relational databases; 3+ years creating dashboards with Power BI or Tableau; 2+ years writing Python data automation scripts; and 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
- Key Methodologies: ETL Pipeline Architecture, Data Profiling, Statistical Modeling, and Business Intelligence Reporting.
- Preferred Capabilities: Prior experience handling healthcare claims or provider datasets, certifications in Microsoft Azure / Databricks / Power BI, and knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks.
