Role Summary
Optum is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Python, AI/ML for its Gurgaon office. In this role, you will build and maintain backend services using Python, GitHub Actions, and Ansible. You will leverage event-driven streaming with Kafka, optimize caching using Redis, build data validation pipelines via Pydantic, integrate webhooks and RESTful APIs, and explore emerging AI workflows using Pydantic AI in cloud environments like Azure or GCP.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Application Development: Build and maintain scalable backend services using Python, Pydantic for data validation, Ansible, and GitHub Workflows within an agile Scrum environment.
- Data & Event Streaming: Design and optimize data pipelines using Kafka for real-time event streaming, Redis for caching, and PostgreSQL/MongoDB for structured/unstructured storage.
- API & Webhook Integrations: Implement secure APIs and WebHooks to facilitate real-time integrations with external applications and third-party systems.
- CI/CD & Observability: Create automated deployment pipelines using YAML, and monitor system performance/alerts across distributed infrastructure using Dynatrace and Prometheus.
- AI & Innovation: Collaborate with data teams to embed analytics capabilities, conduct root-cause analysis on operational incidents, and explore frameworks like Pydantic AI for structured AI workflows.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of software engineering experience focusing on Python backend development and data analytics workflows.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Python, Pydantic, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL/SQL, MongoDB, WebHooks, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Ansible, and YAML configuration.
- Preferred Exposure: Experience with LangChain, AI prompt engineering, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS), microservices, and API security.
