Role Overview
Omnissa is seeking a backend-focused Software Engineer (Member of Technical Staff) to join its engineering team at the Kalyani Vista office in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this core backend role, you will design, build, and optimize scalable, distributed microservices and platform services for Omnissa's autonomous digital workspace platform. Working with a "Dev own quality" mindset, you will take ownership across design, coding, test automation, and debugging, with an emphasis on high-performance PostgreSQL engineering, Linux environments, Python services, and automated cloud deployments.
Core Responsibilities
- Backend & Distributed Systems: Architect, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and testable backend services and distributed application components using Python and Unix/Linux platforms.
- PostgreSQL Database Engineering: Design and tune PostgreSQL data models and queries; implement advanced capabilities including table partitioning, indexing strategies, replication, lock analysis, query profiling, and high-availability operations.
- DevOps & Infrastructure as Code: Containerize backend services with Docker and manage automated provisioning and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across CI/CD delivery pipelines.
- Quality & Test Automation: Actively participate across the entire development lifecycle—from technical specifications to automated testing, code reviews, and production debugging.
- Platform Reliability & Troubleshooting: Identify system bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex production issues, and execute capacity planning to maintain service availability and resilience.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, and Security Engineers across global teams to define and deliver platform capabilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Experience: 2 to 10 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable backend or distributed systems.
- Database Expertise: Strong hands-on proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration and optimization, including query tuning, cluster management, backup/restore, and performance profiling.
- Programming & OS: High proficiency in Python development and deep working familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Containerization & IaC: Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- DevOps Mindset: Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, system networking, and security concepts.
- Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with caching and messaging systems (Redis, Kafka, OpenSearch), AWS managed services (Aurora, MSK, OpenSearch), or Linux internals (file systems, memory management, multithreading).
