Role Summary
NewStreet is hiring Software Engineers – Backend with 1–2 years of experience to build platform services and backend features using Python. Engineers will work across core platform services, product engines, and client delivery while receiving regular senior engineering reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Development: Build and maintain platform services and backend features across product engines, the core platform, and client delivery.
- Feature Development: Develop production software under the guidance and review of senior engineers.
- Bug Fixing: Investigate and resolve bugs while developing an understanding of the existing codebase.
- Enhancements: Implement small enhancements and improvements to existing backend services.
- Testing: Write and maintain tests as part of the development lifecycle.
- Module Ownership: Progress toward owning a backend module end to end within the first few quarters.
- Code Review: Participate in code reviews and incorporate engineering feedback into implementations.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 1–2 years of professional backend development experience.
- Education: B.E., B.Tech, MCA, or equivalent qualification.
- Python: Strong working knowledge of Python and practical backend development experience.
- Databases: Understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- APIs: Knowledge of REST API concepts and backend service development.
- Testing: Experience with pytest or other software testing frameworks.
- Version Control: Daily working knowledge of Git, including branching and pull requests.
- Development: Ability to understand and contribute to an unfamiliar codebase with appropriate guidance.
