Role Summary
NewStreet is hiring a Software Engineer – Android with 1–2 years of experience to develop its mobile client using Kotlin and modern Android technologies. The role focuses on Jetpack Compose, MVVM, the UI Agent, and client-facing mobile experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Android Development: Build and maintain client-facing Android applications using Kotlin, Android SDK, and modern Android development practices.
- UI Development: Develop mobile interfaces using Jetpack Compose and contribute to the platform's UI Agent.
- Architecture: Implement application features using MVVM and appropriate Android architecture patterns.
- API Integration: Integrate Android applications with REST APIs and backend services.
- Bug Fixing: Troubleshoot and resolve application bugs while gaining familiarity with the existing codebase.
- Testing: Write and maintain tests for Android application features.
- Module Ownership: Progress toward owning an Android module end to end within the first few quarters.
- Code Review: Participate in senior-engineer-led code reviews and incorporate feedback into development work.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 1–2 years of professional Android development experience.
- Education: B.E., B.Tech, MCA, or equivalent qualification.
- Kotlin: Practical professional experience developing Android applications with Kotlin.
- Android: Knowledge of Android SDK, application lifecycle, and Jetpack components.
- UI Development: Experience with modern Android UI development, with Jetpack Compose exposure preferred.
- Architecture: Understanding of MVVM and Android application architecture.
- API Integration: Experience integrating Android applications with REST APIs.
- Version Control: Daily working knowledge of Git, including branching and pull requests.
- Projects: A published Android application or substantial personal project is preferred.
