Role Summary
NetApp Instaclustr is seeking a Software Engineer to build, maintain, and operate a global platform that runs open-source applications at scale across cloud and on-premises environments. The role involves solving distributed computing challenges, delivering reliable software, and contributing to production systems operating worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Development: Build, maintain, and enhance the open-source application platform responsible for provisioning infrastructure and running applications reliably in production.
- End-to-End Development: Own the complete development lifecycle from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production.
- Technical Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of complex development initiatives.
- Distributed Systems: Solve complex technical problems involved in operating distributed application platforms at scale.
- Mentoring: Mentor junior engineers and help develop their software engineering skills.
- Collaboration: Work with development teams, operations teams, and product managers to solve complex problems.
- DevOps: Apply DevOps best practices as part of a global team operating services 24x7.
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience delivering quality software and solving technical challenges.
- Experience delivering complex technical solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Java, SQL, and at least one other modern programming language.
- Interest or experience in distributed computing and open-source technologies is valuable.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multiple teams.
- Curiosity about technology and a customer-focused mindset.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop software engineering skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
