Role Summary
NetApp is hiring a Software Engineer for its Instaclustr development team in Bengaluru. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of building, maintaining, and scaling the platform that provisions and operates open-source technologies (such as Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Cadence, and ClickHouse) across cloud and on-premises environments worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Lifecycle Engineering: Lead the requirements analysis, architectural design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operation of complex distributed application platform features.
- Infrastructure & Platform Automation: Build automated workflows to provision infrastructure, install open-source technologies, and maintain reliable, high-availability production clusters.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and mentor junior engineers within a 3–8 person Agile development squad to elevate overall team engineering capabilities.
- DevOps Operations: Apply DevOps best practices in a global 24x7 operational model, collaborating across engineering, operations, and product teams to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial experience regularly delivering complex software and solving distributed computing challenges.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in Java, SQL, object-oriented design, distributed systems, and modern software development pipelines.
- Preferred Exposure: Open-source application stacks (Apache Cassandra, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Cadence, ClickHouse) and cloud infrastructure platforms.
- Core Soft Skills: Strong collaborative nature, curious mindset, excellent communication, and a strong sense of ownership.
