Role Overview
MSD (known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada) features an opportunity for a Specialist Software Engineering, Full-Stack within its Technology Center in Hyderabad, Telangana, India (Hybrid). In this full-stack engineering role supporting digital biopharma initiatives, you will design, implement, and maintain software solutions across the UI, API, database, and cloud layers. Working with global delivery teams and product managers, you will engineer scalable microservices, interactive web frontends, and cloud-native services using Python, modern JavaScript frameworks (React/Angular), SQL databases, and automated DevOps workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Application Development: Architect and build modular, responsive web applications and backend systems using Python, React, Angular, TypeScript, or Node.js/Java frameworks.
- Microservices & API Design: Design, implement, and secure RESTful APIs and distributed microservices adhering to standard authentication, authorization, and data encryption protocols.
- Database Architecture & Tuning: Construct relational database schemas, model data structures with SQL, and perform query performance optimization.
- Cloud-Native Deployment: Build and operate containerized applications across cloud infrastructure (AWS or Microsoft Azure) leveraging managed cloud-native services.
- DevOps & Quality Engineering: Implement automated test suites (unit, integration, and regression), enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and maintain CI/CD deployment pipelines using Git.
- System Security & Observability: Integrate application performance monitoring, structured logging, and observability dashboards to ensure high system reliability and operational uptime.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Professional Experience: 3 to 7 years of hands-on software development experience across the entire full-stack application lifecycle.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong coding proficiency in Python, along with experience in at least one enterprise stack (TypeScript/Node/React, Java/Spring Boot, or .NET).
- Frontend Competence: Practical hands-on expertise building responsive, accessible client interfaces using React or Angular, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS.
- Data Layer Knowledge: Solid understanding of relational database modeling, schema design, and practical SQL query optimization.
- Cloud & Automation: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), containerization, microservices patterns, and DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD, IaC).
- Preferred Stacks: Exposure to Docker, Elasticsearch, Power BI, data engineering pipelines, or AWS technical certifications.
