Role Overview
MSD (known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada) features an opportunity for a Specialist, Software-Cloud Engineering based at its Technology Center in Hyderabad, Telangana, India (Hybrid). In this dual-focused engineering and technical analysis role, you will bridge the gap between engineering teams, platform groups, third-party software vendors, and validation stakeholders. The role is responsible for implementing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms, provisioning AWS infrastructure through Terraform, building automated CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions, designing RESTful API integrations, and executing automated test frameworks across GxP-regulated life sciences environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Cloud Infrastructure & Automation: Author and deploy infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources (VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, Secrets Manager), while automating configuration management using Ansible playbooks.
- CI/CD & Release Engineering: Design, build, and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines using GitHub Actions, embedding quality gates, branch protections, vulnerability scans, and automated rollback mechanisms.
- Custom Development & Integrations: Develop, test, and document integration scripts, microservice components, and RESTful APIs utilizing Python, JavaScript, or Java to connect disparate internal and vendor platforms.
- COTS & Vendor Integration: Conduct technical discovery, review architectural patterns, assess data schemas, and deploy commercial software packages across AWS and on-premises environments through SIT, UAT, and Production.
- Test Automation: Formulate automated testing strategies across API, UI, and end-to-end workflows using Robot Framework and Tricentis Tosca, integrating suites directly into deployment pipelines.
- Compliance & Validation: Author and review Computer System Validation (CSV) deliverables, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and SDLC documentation compliant with GLP, GCP, ALCOA+, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience in a technical analyst, systems analyst, or cloud/software engineering role.
- Cloud & DevOps: Direct hands-on experience provisioning and configuring AWS core services, automating pipelines with GitHub Actions, and applying Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible.
- Programming & Data: Practical development proficiency in Python or Java, coupled with JavaScript scripting, relational SQL databases, and RESTful API development.
- Test Automation Tooling: Hands-on implementation experience with Robot Framework or Tricentis Tosca for test design, keyword automation, and CI/CD integration.
- Regulated Systems: Practical familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV), GxP guidelines (GLP/GCP), electronic signatures, and audit-trail governance.
- Preferred Stacks & Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or above), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or domain exposure to Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
