Software Engineer (Windows Print & Scan Stack)

Role Summary

Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer for its Windows Print team within the Windows & Devices organization in Hyderabad. Operating under a hybrid model (3 days/week in-office), you will design, develop, and maintain the modern Windows Print and Scan stack. You will build high-performance systems code across Windows OS internals, integrate cloud-connected services, apply security hardening practices, and utilize AI-assisted development tools to deliver reliable document workflow experiences at global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems & Feature Development: Own, design, and maintain core platform features within the Windows Print and Scan stack using C, C++, and C#.
  • Security & Reliability Engineering: Implement secure software engineering practices, enforce privacy/compliance standards, and utilize telemetry and logging for root-cause diagnosis.
  • Testing & Code Quality: Define and execute robust test strategies to validate functional correctness, reliability, and security across low-level platform components.
  • Cross-Team & Partner Collaboration: Collaborate with internal Windows OS engineering teams, cloud service groups, and global printer/scanner hardware vendors.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building, debugging, and maintaining production-quality systems code.
  • Mandatory Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in C, C++, or C#, sound understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OS concepts), and Windows OS internals / low-level system services.
  • Preferred Technical Exposure: Experience with cloud-connected services, security hardening, diagnostics/telemetry infrastructure, and AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Core Soft Skills: Growth mindset, disciplined analytical debugging, collaborative technical communication, and accountability.
