Role Summary
Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer 2 / Senior Software Engineer for its Azure Data engineering team in Hyderabad, Telangana. In this high-impact cloud engineering role, you will design, build, and operate large-scale distributed control plane systems powering Azure Managed Redis (AMR). You will drive platform modernization utilizing AKS and .NET, build secure-by-default cloud services, own live-site operational excellence, and collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver enterprise-grade Redis infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Service Engineering: Design and build highly scalable cloud services, control plane components, and microservices supporting Azure Managed Redis at hyperscale.
- Platform Modernization: Drive cloud-native modernization initiatives leveraging AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), .NET, automated deployment workflows, and resilient service architectures.
- End-to-End Service Ownership: Own production services from architectural design through code implementation, automated deployment, monitoring, and live-site incident response.
- Security & Observability: Implement secure-by-default engineering practices, comprehensive telemetry, logging, and operational observability frameworks.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Collaborate with architects, PMs, and cross-geo teams while mentoring software engineers to foster technical and operational excellence.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 7+ years of hands-on software development experience with proficiency in C#, .NET, C++, Java, or Python (5+ years dedicated to building large-scale production cloud services).
- Core Technical Stack: Deep technical mastery in distributed systems, microservices, cloud networking, APIs, storage architecture, and container orchestration (AKS/Kubernetes).
- Operations & Security: Experience with CI/CD automation, root-cause analysis for complex production outages, live-site debugging, and Microsoft Cloud background check compliance.
- Soft Skills: Strong technical leadership, cross-team collaboration, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
