Role Overview
Medallia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Infrastructure team within Cloud Engineering. This is a remote role for candidates based within the Pune metropolitan area in Maharashtra, India. In this critical infrastructure engineering position, you will build, automate, and operate the large-scale distributed components powering the Medallia Experience Cloud. Handling millions of requests per second with sub-second latency, you will manage Kubernetes clusters across public cloud and colocation environments, write automation tooling in Go and Python, and implement GitOps workflows to deliver high service availability and fault tolerance.
Core Responsibilities
- Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering: Design, write, and operate core backend infrastructure software and automation services using Golang and Python to ensure automated cloud maintainability.
- Kubernetes & Cluster Operations: Manage, maintain, and scale production Kubernetes clusters deployed across multi-cloud environments and colocation data centers.
- GitOps & Continuous Deployment: Deploy and maintain applications and infrastructure services using modern GitOps tooling, primarily ArgoCD.
- System Diagnostics & Reliability: Troubleshoot complex, systemic issues spanning the full stack (compute, storage, and networking); participate in the team on-call escalation rotation to maintain 24/7 service resilience.
- Technical Debt & Collaboration: Partner closely with application development and engineering teams to integrate operational requirements, streamline delivery pipelines, and proactively remediate technical debt.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience operating enterprise SaaS platforms in a DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering capacity.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong software development and scripting capabilities in Go (Golang) and/or Python.
- Container Orchestration: Proven hands-on experience provisioning, scaling, and managing production Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads.
- CI/CD & GitOps: Solid experience implementing deployment automation through GitOps frameworks (specifically ArgoCD).
- Operating Systems & Networking: In-depth understanding of the Linux operating system, shell scripting, and core networking protocols.
- Location Requirement: Must currently reside in the Pune metropolitan area (remote arrangement without relocation assistance).
- Preferred Capabilities: Experience designing large-scale distributed systems, working with cloud providers (AWS, OCI), utilizing Terraform (IaC), and implementing modern observability stacks.
