Role Summary
Mastercard is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Open Finance Europe – Connectivity team in Navi Mumbai. The role focuses on designing, developing, and operating secure, scalable API integrations and distributed backend services supporting financial institutions across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- API & Backend Development: Design, develop, test, and support scalable APIs and backend services.
- System Design: Contribute to architecture and system design decisions with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Production Engineering: Deliver production-ready solutions and troubleshoot issues to maintain service stability and reliability.
- Software Quality: Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices and development standards.
- Testing: Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Cloud Engineering: Build and operate cloud-based distributed services using Azure and AWS technologies.
- Observability & Automation: Improve monitoring, observability, automation, and operational efficiency across services.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, Architecture, Security, and SRE teams to deliver reliable engineering solutions.
- Security: Follow Mastercard security policies and practices while protecting the confidentiality and integrity of company information and systems.
Key Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience building cloud-based, distributed backend systems.
- Strong expertise in API development, scalability, and production support.
- Hands-on experience with C#, .NET, and Web APIs.
- Experience with Azure services such as App Services, Key Vault, and Blob Storage, and AWS services such as S3 and Redis.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Flyway, CI/CD pipelines, testing practices, SDLC, and secure coding principles.
- Ability to independently own and deliver software components or services.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience in payments, banking, Open Banking, microservices, observability, or incident response is preferred.
