Role Summary
IBM is hiring a BI Developer II / Analytics Engineer - Confluent for a full-time remote role based out of Bengaluru. In this position, you will accelerate business analytics and analytics engineering across Finance, Field Operations, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market (GTM) stakeholders. You will translate complex business inquiries into production-grade ELT pipelines, architect reusable semantic models and trusted datasets in modern cloud warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks), build modular transformations using dbt, and craft intuitive dashboards using Tableau, Hex, or modern BI serving layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Analytics Engineering & Data Modeling: Design, build, and optimize reusable dimensional data models, trusted datasets, and semantic layers implementing SQL-first best practices.
- ELT Pipeline Development: Build and maintain production-grade data transformations and scheduling pipelines leveraging dbt, Google BigQuery / Snowflake, Airflow, and Git version control.
- Dashboarding & BI Visualization: Deliver interactive dashboards, executive reporting assets, and self-serve exploratory tools using Tableau, Hex, Looker, or Power BI for MBR/QBR business reviews.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with business leaders across Field Operations, Sales, and Finance to define KPI logic, resolve metric discrepancies, and translate operational requirements into technical delivery.
- Data Governance & Quality: Implement data testing frameworks, lineage documentation, access control (RBAC), and root-cause analyses in partnership with core Data Engineering teams.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of solid hands-on experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data warehousing environments.
- Core Stack: Expert SQL authoring, deep familiarity with cloud warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks), dbt transformation workflows, workflow orchestrators (Airflow/Dagster), and enterprise BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Hex).
- Nice to Have: Hands-on Python scripting skills for API integrations, experience analyzing B2B SaaS / CRM data (Salesforce, product telemetry), and familiarity with data observability tools.
- Professional Competencies: High ownership, proactive cross-timezone communication, structured analytical problem-solving, and a product-oriented mindset for data deliverables.
