Test Automation Engineer - L2/L3 Protocols

Role Summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is seeking a motivated Test Automation Engineer specializing in L2/L3 Protocols to join our Engineering & QA organization in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In this full-time onsite role, you will design, automate, and execute comprehensive QA and solution tests for enterprise networking systems, switches, and routers. You will leverage Python and Unix environments to validate network protocol stacks, drive end-to-end testing across physical and virtual topologies, and collaborate with cross-functional architecture and engineering teams to ensure high reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Automation & Scripting: Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Python to validate L2 and L3 networking features and system behaviors.
• Network Solution Testing: Perform functional, regression, and system QA on physical routers, enterprise switches, and virtual networking environments.
• Protocol Verification: Validate core networking stacks and routing protocols across TCP/IP, switching, and routing layers to isolate defects and verify fixes.
• Root Cause Analysis: Drive end-to-end defect lifecycles by reproducing customer scenarios, identifying performance bottlenecks, and collaborating with development squads for timely resolution.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering Managers, architects, and product stakeholders during technical reviews and architectural discussions to elevate software quality standards.

Key Qualifications

• Education: B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related discipline.
• Experience: 1 to 2 years of hands-on software development or test automation experience within Unix/Linux environments.
• Core Technical Skills: Strong Python scripting, solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2/L3 routing and switching protocols), and hands-on QA experience with routers and switches.
• Key Methodologies: Test Automation Frameworks, Solution Testing, Defect Lifecycle Management, and Network Troubleshooting.
• Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with virtual networking technologies, container platforms (Kubernetes), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Unix internals.
