Role Summary
Hevo Data is seeking a driven, analytical Software Development Engineer I (SDE I - Backend) to join our engineering team on-site in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. In this entry-level backend role, you will help scale our automated data integration platform by designing, building, and maintaining SaaS source connectors and data pipeline components. Working closely under the mentorship of senior engineers, you will implement robust REST APIs, handle structured data extraction, optimize pipeline performance, and solve practical integration challenges to enable effortless, real-time data movement for businesses worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- SaaS Connector Implementation: Build, maintain, and enhance application-specific connectors, handling authentication flows (e.g., Basic Auth, OAuth) and reliable data extraction.
- REST API Development: Assist in architecting clean, maintainable REST API endpoints and backend services with a strong focus on modular code and thorough unit testing.
- Pipeline Debugging & Optimization: Debug runtime defects, investigate data pipeline bottlenecks, and optimize code efficiency under senior engineering guidance.
- Feature Delivery & Documentation: Contribute to technical design breakdowns, write high-quality production code, and author comprehensive technical documentation for assigned modules.
- Integration Problem-Solving: Apply logical reasoning and structured troubleshooting to resolve schema, data synchronization, and third-party API integration issues.
Key Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline from a reputed institution.
- Experience: 0 to 1 year of software engineering experience (internships focusing on backend engineering, data tools, or systems integration are strongly preferred).
- Programming Fundamentals: Proficiency in at least one modern language—Java, Python, or TypeScript—along with a strong foundation in Data Structures, Algorithms, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- API & Data Basics: Foundational knowledge of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and parsing/serializing JSON payloads.
- Learning Agility: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to master concurrency, distributed system design, and large-scale data pipeline architectures.
