Role Summary
HARMAN Automotive is hiring an Advanced Engineer - Android Kotlin (Career Level T3-B) to join our engineering division at Kalyani Platina, Bengaluru. In this on-site role, you will spearhead the development of user interfaces and graphics components for next-generation Android Automotive OS (AAOS) applications and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. You will build declarative UI architectures using Jetpack Compose, enforce MVVM design patterns, execute automated UI test suites, and optimize real-time graphics rendering for connected vehicles worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Automotive UI Architecture: Lead the design and engineering of high-performance user interfaces and reusable UI component libraries for Android Automotive OS platforms using Jetpack Compose.
- Architectural Governance: Drive the implementation of MVVM architectural patterns, Kotlin Coroutines, and asynchronous reactive state handling (StateFlow/SharedFlow).
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Design and maintain automated unit and UI integration test suites using JUnit, Espresso, and Compose Testing frameworks.
- Performance & Optimization: Profile memory consumption, frame rates, and render times to eliminate UI thread latency and resolve UX performance bottlenecks.
- Mentorship & Design Collaboration: Partner closely with UX/UI designers, system architects, and product owners while providing technical code reviews and guidance for junior developers.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5 to 9 years of professional hands-on Android application development experience with a strong focus on modern UI engineering.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose architecture, Android Jetpack components (ViewModel, Lifecycle), Kotlin Coroutines, MVVM patterns, and automated UI testing (JUnit/Espresso).
- Nice to Have: Domain experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS), connected vehicle navigation stacks, and UI asset integration via Figma.
- Professional Competencies: Strong analytical debugging, excellent technical communication, and a disciplined approach to building mission-critical embedded software.
