Role Summary
Google Cloud is hiring a Technical Solutions Engineer, Cloud Support, Networking for its engineering and cloud support hubs in Bengaluru, Karnataka and Pune, Maharashtra. In this 24x7 global customer engineering role, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex networking, infrastructure, and systems issues for enterprise clients using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will write automation scripts (Python/Shell), debug Linux kernel and TCP/IP stack configurations, perform deep-packet inspection, and partner directly with Product Engineering teams to improve cloud product supportability.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Escalation & Diagnostics: Own, triage, and resolve high-priority L2/L3 customer networking and cloud infrastructure issues through root cause analysis and debugging.
- Cloud Networking & Systems Support: Troubleshoot TCP/IP routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancers, software-defined networks (SDN), and Linux OS kernel parameters.
- Scripting & Automation: Write Python and Shell scripts to build internal investigation tools, automate diagnostic workflows, and reproduce complex customer environments.
- Product Engineering Collaboration: Advocate for customer needs by sharing operational insights with GCP Product and Software Engineering teams to enhance product features and fix bug defects.
- 24x7 Global Operations: Participate in shift patterns and non-standard work hours (including potential weekend coverage) as part of a global 24/7 cloud support network.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical troubleshooting, triaging operational/software issues, and advocating for enterprise customer needs.
- Scripting & OS Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Python or Shell scripting, alongside Linux/Unix systems administration, file systems, and kernel networking.
- Networking Depth: Strong foundational knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, DNS, routing protocols, firewalls, and load balancing concepts.
- Desirable Experience: Container networking (Kubernetes), Software-Defined Networking (SDN), packet capture analysis (tcpdump/Wireshark), and HTTP-based API debugging.
