Role Summary
Google is hiring a Systems Development Engineer (SDE) for its engineering hub in Hyderabad, Telangana. In this infrastructure and software engineering role, you will design, build, and maintain automation tools, utilities, and large-scale systems to manage Google-scale infrastructure. You will focus on eliminating operational toil, instrumenting telemetry/observability frameworks, strengthening Identity and Access Management (IAM) security postures, and resolving technical escalations through software engineering and systems automation (Python/Go).
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Automation & Design: Design, implement, test, and maintain automated software utilities and infrastructure services using Python or Go to eliminate manual toil and optimize system performance.
- Identity & Access Management (IAM): Act as a technical SME for identity-related initiatives, collaborating with global security engineering teams to plan and execute secure IAM access changes.
- Telemetry & Observability: Instrument systems telemetry to convert operational data into actionable insights, driving high system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Infrastructure Modernization: Architect and deploy tools that enhance productivity, security, and developer workflows across Google's enterprise infrastructure.
- Operational Readiness & On-Call: Participate in on-call rotations to provide higher-level technical resolution and escalation support for complex operational issues.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience managing technical infrastructure (deployment, maintenance, debugging) and designing scalable systems solutions.
- Automation & Scripting: 2+ years of hands-on experience developing systems automation and utilities in Python or Go.
- OS & Networking Depth: Strong foundational knowledge of Linux operating system internals, systems administration, and network troubleshooting.
- Preferred Exposure: Familiarity with Access Management technologies (IAM/SSO), CI/CD developer workflows, and observability/monitoring frameworks.
