Role Summary
GlobalLogic (a Hitachi Group Company) is hiring an experienced Senior Node.js Backend Developer to join our digital entertainment and media engineering practice (Discovery Digital) in Bengaluru in a hybrid work model. In this role, you will design, engineer, and optimize scalable, low-latency backend microservices and RESTful APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and modern application frameworks. You will solve complex event-loop concurrency bottlenecks, design and tune high-performance PostgreSQL relational models, build event-driven cloud solutions on AWS, and deliver mission-critical platforms supporting global digital streaming and OTT media workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Node.js Microservices Engineering: Architect, implement, and maintain high-throughput REST APIs and microservices using Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like NestJS, Express.js, or Fastify.
- Concurrency & Performance Tuning: Manage asynchronous operations, worker threads, stream pipelines, and non-blocking I/O to maximize Node.js event-loop throughput and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
- Database Design & Optimization: Model relational database schemas in PostgreSQL, analyze query execution plans, configure connection pooling, and manage indexing strategies and transaction concurrency.
- AWS Cloud Deployments: Build and run containerized workloads leveraging core AWS services including ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS for PostgreSQL, S3, SQS, and CloudWatch.
- Security, Quality & Observability: Implement secure authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT), author automated unit and integration tests, configure monitoring via Grafana and ELK, and participate in CI/CD pipeline automation and peer code reviews.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 6 to 8 years of total software engineering experience, including at least 4 to 5 years of hands-on Node.js backend development in production environments.
- Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Node.js internals, asynchronous programming, PostgreSQL query optimization, RESTful microservices, Docker, and AWS cloud architectures.
- Nice to Have: Domain experience in OTT platforms, digital video streaming, CDN integrations, Redis caching, Apache Kafka, and Terraform/CloudFormation IaC.
- Professional Competencies: Strong system design fundamentals, disciplined debugging and root-cause analysis skills, and collaborative ownership within fast-paced Agile teams.
