Role Summary
GlobalLogic is hiring a MySQL Database Administrator for its software product engineering organization in Bengaluru. In this onsite role, you will architect, deploy, manage, and optimize high-availability MySQL database clusters operating within Kubernetes container environments. You will implement backup and recovery strategies, perform query tuning, drive database lifecycle management, automate operational workflows using Python/Bash scripts, and mentor junior DBAs within a 24/7 production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Architecture & Cluster Management: Design, deploy, and administer scalable, high-performance MySQL clusters running on Kubernetes and containerized platforms.
- Performance Tuning & Lifecycle Management: Conduct query optimization, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning while managing end-to-end database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle operations.
- Backup, Security & Disaster Recovery: Implement robust backup strategies using MySQL Enterprise Backup and mysqldump, manage data encryption, and enforce security access controls.
- Kubernetes Automation & Mentorship: Automate database deployment tasks using Python, Bash, and IaC tools, collaborate with SRE/DevOps teams, and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of progressive DBA experience, with 3+ years dedicated specifically to MySQL administration.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Deep expertise in MySQL architecture, query optimization, replication models (Group Replication, Asynchronous, Semi-Synchronous), backup/recovery tools (MEB, mysqldump), and Python/Bash scripting.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes stateful deployments, Docker, Elasticsearch, Couchbase/NoSQL, Terraform, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
- Core Soft Skills: Strong incident troubleshooting abilities, technical mentorship skills, clear communication, and collaborative cross-functional execution.
