Role Summary
EXL is hiring an Azure Lead Data Engineer + Guidewire for its enterprise data engineering practice in Gurugram. In this leadership role, you will architect, build, and deliver scalable enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines integrating complex Guidewire InsuranceSuite datasets into modern Azure and Snowflake data platforms. You will lead technical teams, collaborate with business architects and data consumers, implement DBT transformation models, enforce enterprise data governance standards, and drive legacy data modernization programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Architecture & Engineering: Architect, build, and orchestrate robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Snowflake, and DBT.
- Guidewire Integration & Domain Modeling: Ingest, extract, and model multi-source insurance data from Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter applications into centralized analytics platforms.
- SQL Optimization & Transformation: Design optimized SQL queries, transformations, and data models to ensure high throughput, reliability, and data consistency across complex enterprise workloads.
- Technical Leadership & Governance: Mentor data engineers, conduct code and architecture reviews, enforce data lineage and quality frameworks, and implement CI/CD deployment workflows.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 9 to 12 years of hands-on data engineering experience, including demonstrated technical team leadership on cloud modernization projects.
- Mandatory Technical Stack: Deep expertise in Azure Cloud data services (ADF, ADLS), Snowflake, SnowSQL, DBT, advanced SQL optimization, and Guidewire InsuranceSuite data models.
- Preferred Technical Exposure: Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions, Python, PySpark, Databricks, data governance tools, and legacy systems migration (DataStage, Netezza).
- Core Soft Skills: Strong technical leadership, excellent stakeholder management, analytical problem-solving, and clear cross-functional communication.
