Role Overview
Ellucian is seeking a Technical Consultant (Postgres/MSSQL) to join its Product Modernization team based out of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (Hybrid). In this client-facing and engineering consultancy role, you will support higher education institutions modernizing their campus infrastructure via SaaS solutions and Colleague ERP implementations. You will execute complex data migrations from legacy, non-SQL data structures into PostgreSQL environments using agentic migration tooling, collaborate with Cloud Engineering teams, and automate deployment workflows across AWS cloud infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
- Database Migration: Perform and validate complex end-to-end data migrations from legacy non-SQL formats into structured PostgreSQL databases using established modernization tooling.
- Agentic & AI-Driven Automation: Utilize agentic harnesses and Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline, orchestrate, and accelerate repeatable migration tasks and workflows.
- Cloud & DevOps Engineering: Support production SaaS applications deployed on AWS (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management (Ansible).
- Process Optimization & Scripting: Author and maintain automation scripts in Python, Bash, or Ruby to eliminate repetitive operational procedures and resolve data validation discrepancies.
- Technical Consulting & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate directly with institutions, project consultants, and engineering teams to ensure deployments adhere to access controls and information security standards.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot migration failures, perform root-cause resolution, and deliver documentation to guarantee high customer satisfaction and data integrity.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Specialist, or Systems Administrator supporting production infrastructure.
- Database Knowledge: Strong hands-on proficiency in PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) database administration, schema modeling, and query execution.
- AI & Automation Exposure: 1+ years of practical experience using agentic frameworks or LLMs to orchestrate tasks, alongside scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Ruby.
- AWS Ecosystem: 1+ years of experience supporting production environments using AWS core services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3).
- DevOps & IaC: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible configuration management, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Core Competencies: Proven problem-solving ability, ownership of multi-project deliverables, and effective presentation and client communication skills.
