Role Summary
Darwinbox is hiring a Payroll Operations Specialist - Ask Darwin to join our Product and Engineering support group in Hyderabad. In this client-facing role, you will act as the first line of operational and technical payroll support for enterprise clients using the Darwinbox HCM suite. You will diagnose payroll processing errors, validate statutory calculations (PF, ESI, TDS, PT), troubleshoot complex configuration edge cases in real time, and serve as the liaison to product engineering to drive bug resolution and ensure smooth payroll execution cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Query Ownership: Manage and resolve complex client payroll inquiries received through the Ask Darwin portal, chat, email, and phone calls.
- Payroll Troubleshooting: Diagnose calculation discrepancies, salary restructuring issues, statutory component deviations, and wage code misconfigurations to unblock client payroll runs.
- Client Communication & Documentation: Lead structured client check-ins, articulate technical root causes, draft comprehensive Minutes of Meeting (MoM), and deliver proactive status updates against SLAs.
- Product & Engineering Escalation: Document software defects with clear reproduction steps and payload logs, collaborating with engineering squads until fixes are deployed to production.
- Process Discipline: Maintain structured query tracking, identify recurring payroll support themes, and contribute to internal knowledge bases and client runbooks.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or an equivalent discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in payroll operations, payroll support, or corporate payroll accounting.
- Domain Expertise: Solid operational understanding of Indian payroll structures, statutory deductions (TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax), and labor/wage guidelines.
- Communication Skills: Fluent verbal and written communication in English, along with strong verbal fluency in Hindi for seamless client conversations.
- Tools & Technology: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, formulas, data validation), Word, and email management; prior exposure to enterprise HRMS/HCM platforms is an advantage.
- Professional Attributes: Strong bias for action, calm composure during high-pressure payroll closing windows, and a meticulous approach to issue resolution.
