Role Overview
D. E. Shaw India is hiring a Lead, Tech for its Python Infrastructure team within the Core Tech group, based across its offices in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. In this systems-level infrastructure engineering role, you will build and evolve the foundational Python platform that powers critical trading, analytical, and operational applications across the firm. The role focuses on delivering high-throughput computing frameworks, building low-latency data storage and retrieval engines, enabling grid-based parallel programming, and optimizing core libraries using lower-level systems programming and compilation techniques.
Core Responsibilities
- Core Infrastructure Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain foundational software libraries, services, and tooling in Python used enterprise-wide.
- Low-Level Performance Optimization: Profile and accelerate core Python components utilizing lower-level systems languages (C, C++), Cython, Numba, and JIT/AOT compilation techniques.
- High-Performance Data Storage: Architect and optimize low-latency data structures, analytical compute engines, and storage/retrieval layers for massive financial datasets.
- Parallel & Grid Computing: Engineer distributed grid computing interfaces and parallel programming frameworks to scale compute-intensive workloads seamlessly.
- Internal Platform Frameworks: Develop reusable web server engines, unit testing frameworks, and automated technical documentation pipelines for engineering teams across the organization.
- Engineering Excellence: Champion robust computer science principles, clean code design, and strict quality benchmarks across internal platform releases.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field with an impressive academic record.
- Professional Experience: 4 to 6 years of solid, hands-on software development experience specializing in advanced Python and systems infrastructure.
- Computer Science Foundations: Deep technical mastery of data structures, algorithms, operating system fundamentals, memory models, and distributed systems.
- System Optimization (Preferred): Proven ability or working knowledge in C, C++, Cython, Numba, or ahead-of-time (AOT) and just-in-time (JIT) compilation techniques to push Python performance boundaries.
- Software Engineering Craft: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, architectural design capabilities, and experience building modular, reusable libraries.
