Role Summary
Cyient is hiring an experienced Technical Writer in Pune to develop, author, and illustrate high-quality technical documentation for automotive, off-highway, and agricultural equipment. In this role, you will analyze engineering CAD systems, interpret ECNs and 3D models, update Annotated Topic Lists (ATLs), and publish comprehensive technical manuals using XML editing tools and vector illustration software.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual Authoring: Develop and update Operator Manuals (OM), Workshop Manuals (WSM), Assembly Instructions (AI), Service Bulletins, and Parts Catalogs (IPC).
- Engineering Data Extraction: Access PLM systems (Windchill) to gather engineering data, interpret 3D CAD models, read mechanical engineering drawings, and parse Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Technical Illustration: Create and modify 2D/3D vector technical illustrations using Creo Illustrate, ISO Draw, CorelDRAW, and Adobe Illustrator.
- ATL & Translation Management: Create and update Annotated Topic Lists (ATLs) to address content gaps and coordinate latest translation requirements.
- Global Process Support: Review documentation drafts, publish final deliverables, and provide technical publication support to global client teams.
Key Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (Certification in Technical Writing is a plus).
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated technical authoring experience in the Automotive or Agricultural/Off-Highway equipment domain.
- Authoring & PLM Tools: Hands-on proficiency with Arbortext Editor, PTC Windchill, and PTC Creo View.
- Graphics Tools: Expertise in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, CorelDRAW, or ISO Draw.
- Technical Aptitude: Solid understanding of automotive parts/assemblies, mechanical projections, and electrical schematics.
