Role Summary
Cyberhaven is seeking a highly skilled, low-level Senior Software Engineer (Systems & Network Proxy) to join our global development team in a full-time remote capacity (India Remote / EU Remote). In this critical systems engineering role, you will own, design, and scale Cyberhaven's on-endpoint network proxy solution. You will engineer low-level systems that intercept, inspect, and manipulate third-party network traffic in real time, terminate and re-establish TLS sessions, and trace complex cross-application data flows with sub-millisecond overhead to protect enterprise workflows against modern threat vectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Traffic Interception & Proxying: Hook and redirect outbound network connections, terminate and re-establish TLS/SSL sessions, and evaluate content-aware security policies in real time on the endpoint.
- Low-Level Systems Telemetry: Build and optimize high-throughput, low-level data collectors that trace data flows across native applications, file systems, network sockets, and IPC pipes into unified event streams.
- Performance Profiling & Optimization: Diagnose, profile, and optimize low-level system software handling hundreds of thousands of events per second with near-zero impact on host application latency or user experience.
- Secure-by-Design Hardening: Design, build, and audit hardened endpoint software engineered to withstand real-world attacks while processing untrusted data streams and communicating securely with cloud backends.
- Product Architecture & Delivery: Collaborate across distributed agile/Scrum teams to define system architecture, lead technical design reviews, and establish resilient engineering standards.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of professional engineering experience in systems software, low-level networking, forward proxies, or endpoint security engineering.
- Network Interception Expertise: Proven track record in packet parsing, connection redirection, traffic hooking, and low-level protocol analysis.
- Security Proxy Background: Hands-on experience developing or significantly extending at least one production forward proxy utilized in security or networking software.
- Systems Diagnostics: Advanced experience with systems-level debugging, kernel/user-space profiling, memory analysis, and performance tuning.
- Architecture & Reliability: Solid understanding of high-concurrency systems architecture, fault-tolerant software engineering, and secure coding principles.
- Preferred Capabilities: Deep expertise in C++, Rust, or OS-level internals (Windows/macOS/Linux), alongside familiarity with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) or Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms.
