Role Summary
FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is hiring a Development Engineer 4 (Platform & Automation Engineering) for its engineering organization in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In this senior individual contributor role, you will lead the design, development, and reliability of FreeWheel’s global infrastructure automation platform. You will build high-performance automation tools using Go and Python, architect cloud-native CI/CD delivery pipelines (ArgoCD, Jenkins), manage Infrastructure as Code via Terraform on AWS, and ensure continuous availability for ad insertion platforms operating at massive international scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Platform Architecture: Engineer, enhance, and scale core internal automation platforms and developer tooling using Go and Python.
- Cloud & Container Infrastructure: Manage containerized applications on Kubernetes clusters across AWS public cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- CI/CD & Delivery Pipelines: Design, optimize, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (Jenkins, ArgoCD) to accelerate software releases.
- Reliability & On-Call Engineering: Lead high-priority incident troubleshooting, drive continuous site reliability improvements, and participate in a rotating technical on-call schedule.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with cross-functional teams to gather automation requirements and mentor junior engineering talent across technical documentation and system design best practices.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Overall Experience: 7 to 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or SRE environments.
- Programming Proficiency: Deep hands-on coding proficiency in Go (Golang) or Python for systems automation and backend tooling.
- Cloud & DevOps Stack: Proven expertise with Kubernetes, container orchestration, AWS cloud services, IaC tools (Terraform), and GitOps/CI-CD platforms (ArgoCD, Jenkins).
- Systems & Soft Skills: Strong system design fundamentals, acute troubleshooting instincts under pressure, and excellent collaborative communication skills.
