Role Summary
Coinbase is seeking a Software Engineer for its Security Platform Engineering team. The role focuses on architecting, developing, and scaling backend platforms that support security, compliance, and privacy across Coinbase. Key areas include secrets and key management, identity and access management, onchain security, policy and risk management, and vulnerability management.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Engineering: Architect and develop security platform capabilities to support critical security, compliance, privacy, and product requirements.
- Backend Development: Build reliable, scalable services using Golang or Java.
- System Design: Design scalable systems using modern cloud technologies and established engineering practices.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction, collaborate with management and stakeholders, and contribute to strategic roadmaps.
- Project Ownership: Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while ensuring quality and reliability.
- Code Quality: Write high-quality, well-tested code and improve the maintainability and operational reliability of backend systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex technical problems and improve system deployment, operation, and observability.
- Design Reviews: Review feature designs and cross-functional projects to maintain security, scalability, operational integrity, and architectural clarity.
- Mentoring: Mentor team members on design techniques, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into actionable roadmaps.
- Responsible AI Usage: Use generative AI responsibly, with human oversight, to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Key Qualifications
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture.
- Strong system design and coding skills.
- Experience developing reliable, scalable backend services using Golang or Java.
- Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate transparently with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Interest in building an open financial system and supporting security-focused engineering initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits
The stated annual base salary for this India-remote position is ₹44,08,400, excluding equity and bonuses. Work Arrangement
