Role Summary
Coinbase is seeking a Senior IT Automation Engineer to own technical architecture and deliver high-impact automations for its IT Support & Services (ITSS) organization. The role focuses on building scalable automation platforms, establishing engineering standards, and improving employee self-service workflows across global IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Architecture: Own architecture decisions for IT Tooling automations, including system structure, integration patterns, and tools such as n8n, Airflow, Temporal, and Jira.
- Engineering Standards: Establish architecture standards, coding practices, and code review processes to improve engineering quality.
- Project Leadership: Act as the technical directly responsible individual (DRI) for complex, high-impact automation projects from discovery and design through production delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Security, Corporate Engineering, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) teams to resolve technical blockers and participate in architecture discussions.
- Reusable Frameworks: Develop shared frameworks and reusable components to reduce single points of failure across the automation platform.
- Documentation: Create architecture documentation and decision records that support team scalability and reduce dependency on individual engineers.
- Technical Specifications: Independently translate loosely defined problems into clear, production-ready technical specifications.
- Responsible AI: Use generative AI responsibly, maintain human oversight, and deliver measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Key Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in IT engineering, automation, or systems engineering.
- Demonstrated ownership of architecture decisions, engineering standards, or platform-level systems used by other engineers.
- Deep expertise in building and maintaining complex automations using n8n, Airflow, Temporal, Jira Automation, or Workato.
- Strong Git-based development workflows, including branching, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Working knowledge of Okta, Slack API, and Google Workspace administration for designing secure and scalable automation architectures.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and translate loosely scoped problems into production-ready technical specifications.
- Ability to use generative AI responsibly with appropriate human oversight.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Base Salary: ₹34,19,600 INR, excluding equity and bonus.

Work Model
This is a remote-first position based in India, with quarterly in-person working sessions called surges.
