Role Summary
Coinbase is hiring an IC4 Machine Learning Engineer for its CX Intelligence team to develop secure, scalable, AI-powered customer support experiences. The role focuses on building a hybrid chatbot orchestration layer that coordinates vendor AI, internal multi-agent systems, and human participants across conversational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- AI Orchestration: Build and improve orchestration systems that manage state transitions, context sharing, and intent routing across vendor and internal LLM frameworks.
- Python Development: Develop production-grade Python services that integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into reliable customer-facing products.
- Machine Learning Projects: Drive well-scoped ML projects from design through delivery while balancing technical trade-offs.
- System Design: Contribute to system architecture, coding standards, and AI/ML development best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers and stakeholders to build secure, scalable, and high-performing AI-powered experiences.
- Design Reviews: Participate in technical reviews and ensure features meet security, compliance, and performance standards.
- Responsible AI: Apply generative AI responsibly, maintain appropriate human oversight, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.
Key Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional experience in machine learning and software engineering.
- Experience shipping production-grade machine learning services.
- Hands-on experience with modern AI architectures, including large language models and deep learning.
- Familiarity with tools such as LangGraph, LangSmith, Google ADK, Vertex AI, or AWS Bedrock.
- Strong proficiency in Python and the ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested production code.
- Working knowledge of at least one domain: natural language processing, information retrieval, computer vision, or statistical modeling.
- Ability to prepare technical design documents and communicate ML system designs clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Commitment to responsible generative AI usage and human oversight.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Base Salary: ₹44,08,400 INR, excluding equity and bonus.

Work Model
This is a remote-first position open to candidates in India. Employees are expected to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges.
