Role Summary
Cognizant is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Java FullStack Developer in Bangalore. Operating in a hybrid model, this position designs and delivers robust, high-availability microservices and data-driven solutions using Java, SQL, and JavaScript for complex enterprise applications. You will focus on building scalable backend services, optimizing database performance, implementing intuitive user features, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Microservices: Design, build, and deploy scalable Java backend services and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and microservices patterns that adhere to clean coding standards.
- Database Engineering: Write optimized SQL queries, design schemas, configure indexing strategies, and tune database interactions to handle high-volume transactional workloads.
- Front-End Integration: Build intuitive, responsive front-end user features using JavaScript that integrate smoothly with backend services.
- Quality & Performance Tuning: Profile application performance, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain automated unit and integration test suites to reduce regression risks.
- Agile Collaboration & Mentorship: Participate in Agile sprint ceremonies, conduct peer code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional product teams.
- Security & Monitoring: Enforce secure coding practices (input validation, access control) and monitor application health using logs and metrics to minimize downtime.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience in Java development with expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, and RESTful microservices.
- Strong command of SQL schema design, query optimization, and relational database management systems.
- Solid working experience with JavaScript for front-end integration and interactive UI development.
- Practical knowledge of version control, CI/CD build tools, automated testing frameworks, and Agile practices.
- Preferred: Certified Java Developer or Spring Professional Certification.
